Utah Honored Six Basketball Players On Senior Night

SALT LAKE CITY- Utah honored six senior basketball players prior to tip-off against West Virginia Tuesday night.

Following the presentation, the Runnin’ Utes will take on West Virginia. The game presents a unique twist revolving around interim head coach Josh Eilert, who served as interim head coach at West Virginia last season.

There are six players on Utah’s roster listed as seniors, and all six will be honored. Gabe Madsen, Mason Madsen, Lawson Lovering, Hunter Erickson, Caleb Lohner, and Brandon Haddock, a walk-on, will receive their senior jerseys.

Utah honors six for Senior Night against West Virginia

Gabe Madsen

Utah’s all-time 3-point record holder, Madsen, has been vital to Utah basketball over the last few years.

After joining the program in 2021, Madsen has played in 115 games and started 99 of them. He’s steadily improved over the years, going from 6.8 points in 2021-22 to 15.2 points per game this season.

Madsen has provided Utah some incredible moments, highlighted by his record-setting 3-pointer against Kansas that secured the upset win.

Mason Madsen

It’s unfortunate the other Madsen brother didn’t join the program sooner, Mason has been a welcomed addition to the program this season.

He’s appeared in 27 games, starting four of them, and has averaged 7.4 points per game this season.

Lawson Lovering

A key cog in the middle, Lovering has been a positive presence in the program, and a rugged presence on the defensive end of the floor.

In 57 games and 48 starts, Lovering has averaged 8.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 55% shooting from the field.

Hunter Erickson

In two seasons with the program, Erickson has been a good source of production and toughness. He’s averaged 4.3 points, 1.8 assists, in roughly 20 minutes a night over the span of 66 games.

He’s made significant plays in big moments for Utah, most notably against BYU.

Caleb Lohner

The tight end on the hardwood, Lohner has provided a strong presence both physically and emotionally. He’s been a good source of leadership and reliable whenever his number’s called.

It’s too bad Lohner didn’t follow through on his original commitment with Utah, but he finishes his career as a Runnin’ Ute.

Brandon Haddock

After originally joining the program in 2019, Haddock has spent four seasons with the Runnin’ Utes program. Even though contributions are often minimal, walk-ons rarely get the credit they deserve for the role they play in a program.
