First-look at the No. 22 Arizona Wildcats
Arizona enters the Utah matchup at 7–2, with its only losses coming against BYU and Texas Tech. The Wildcats are coming off a win over TCU and have an opportunity to strengthen their Big 12 standing by knocking off the unbeaten Utes at home.
Quarterback Noah Fifita will be central to Arizona’s chances of testing Utah. The Wildcats are completing 72.6% of their passes and converting more than half their third downs, making their passing game a difficult assignment for a defense coming off the rivalry win.
Utah’s defense offers a strong counter, allowing opponents to complete just 51.3% of their passes. That strength-on-strength matchup could shape the game, while the Utes’ offense faces an Arizona defense allowing only 6.29 yards per pass attempt.
Utah must follow up on its rivalry win
Beating BYU gave Utah a victory worth celebrating. Following it with another strong performance on the road is the next test for Morgan Scalley’s team.
The Utes will need to carry their competitive edge into Tucson while cleaning up the mistakes that complicated their rivalry victory. An emotional win can provide momentum, but Arizona presents its own demands.
The Wildcats are coming off a 29-28 win over TCU and have an opportunity to strengthen their position in the conference race by handing Utah its first loss.
For Utah, Saturday offers a chance to reach 10-0 and keep control of its championship pursuit. With FOX carrying the game and its traveling pregame show on campus, there will be plenty of attention on how the Utes respond.
