SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Now that we know when the Utes will begin their 2020 season, the rosters have been updated with position changes and numbers.

Usually, Kyle Whittingham moves offensive players over to the defensive side of the ball. During camp, potentially three players have moved from the defensive side of the ball to the offense.

Moves on the defensive side of the ball is either to the offense or moved to a different position on that side of the ball.

Looking at the 2020 spring roster compared to the fall camp roster, here are some changes.

Position Changes

According to the Utes’ website the following position changes were made:

Mufi Hill-Hunt has moved from defensive tackle to tight end. While at Michigan State and one year at Utah, Hill-Hunt has played on the defensive line.

Falcon Kaumatule will bolster the offensive line depth for Utah after moving over from the defensive line.

Fua Pututau is moving over one spot on the defensive line from defensive end to defensive tackle. Pututau is a defensive tackle but was playing defensive end during spring ball with the newcomers at that position not enrolled back in March.

Taniela Pututau could potentially move to offense. It’s still up in the air. Kyle Whittingham said that the return missionary has taken reps at tight end to see how he looks on offense. If Pututau doesn’t play on offense, he will go back to defense as a linebacker.

Nephi Sewell moved to linebacker after bulking up in the weight room to make the move from safety.
