Utah Football Sends Snarky Tweet After Clark Phillips III Signing

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football Twitter account sent out a snarky tweet after Clark Phillips III flipped his commitment from Ohio State University to the Utes.
Phillips announced that he would join the Utah football program on Thursday, December 19. He had previously committed to play for the Buckeyes.
After the four-star cornerback made it known that he was headed to Kyle Whittingham and the Utes, the Utah football’s official Twitter account took a subtle jab towards Ohio State by tweeting “THE University of Utah.”

The Ohio State University was originally known as Ohio Agricultural And Mechanical College before getting renamed in 1878.
In 1986, the Buckeyes updated their logo and focused on “THE” at the beginning of the school’s official name in an attempt to separate themselves from other universities with the abbreviation “OSU” such Oklahoma State and Oregon State.

Phillips is from La Habra, California. He is the No. 4 cornerback and the 5th highest-rated recruit in the state of California.
