Utah Student Athletes Score High Marks In Academics

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – In a measurement of an athletic department’s academic success, the University of Utah’s student athletes are among the nation’s best.
According to APR, a tool used by the NCAA to measure the academic performance of scholarship athletes accounting for eligibility, retention and graduation, the Utes scored a multi-year mark of 985, well above the minimum requirement of 930. Measurements are taken yearly and on a multi-year basis.
“We are extremely pleased with the information in the latest APR Report because it reinforces our feelings that academic success continues to be at the forefront of our mission at the University of Utah,” said Utah athletic director Mark Harlan.

“We aim to provide the best student-athlete experience in the nation. With the support of a tremendous Academic Services staff, as well as coaches who are committed to the improvement of our young men and women, this department lays the foundation for every Ute to achieve their goals,” Harlan continued.
Student athletes from several programs, including football, cross-country, gymnastics, women’s skiing, soccer women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and volleyball had perfect single year scores. Gymnastics and volleyball earned perfect multi-year scores.
In a national perspective, Utah’s football team multi-year score of 989 was tied for the seventh highest mark in the country among FBS programs.
