SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As the 2019 NBA Draft creeps closer on Thursday, the Utah Jazz are wrapping up pre-draft workouts and Weber State forward Brekkott Chapman hopes to have opened eyes of NBA scouts.

The former Ute and Wildcat had his third pre-draft workout, all in a three-day span.

The Roy, Utah native grew up watching the Jazz and was pleased to be able to workout for the team he has been following.

“I was talking about that on the way over here,” Chapman said. “I remember coming to games and now getting a chance to workout for the team, it’s just crazy.”

Chapman started his college career at the University of Utah, where he spent two seasons from 2014-16 with Utes. He averaged 5.1 points in 71 games played before transferring to Weber State.

After two seasons with the Wildcats from 2017-19 averaging 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, Chapman has reflected on his college basketball journey.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” he said. “It’s been a lot of ups and a lot of downs. It just shows me the support that I have that I can really get through anything. This is about playing a game for a living. It’s just a blessing to be here.”

He was impressive in his workout in front of the Jazz scouts, including VP of Player Personnel Walt Perrin.

“I haven’t seen him play probably since he left Utah,” said Perrin. “So, I got a chance to see him up close and personal and I was impressed with the way he played today. He showed cases of the ability to create off the dribble, he knocked down some shots in our drills, showed some explosiveness going to the basket. So, it was enlightening for me.”

This is his third NBA pre-draft workout after showing his talent to the Phoenix Suns and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“My first workout with Phoenix, I was a little nervous and it wasn’t the best workout for me,” Chapman stated. “But these last two have been much, much better.”

When asked what his future holds, the Roy High School star is taking it day-by-day.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” said Chapman. “I am just coming out here everyday and I am going to put forth my best foot and see what I can do with it. Take what I can get.”

The NBA Draft is on Thursday.
