Longtime NFL Analyst John Clayton Passes Away At 67

SALT LAKE CITY – Seattle sports legend, NFL writer and broadcaster John Clayton passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 18 at the age of 67.
Clayton lived the dream of so many kids who grew up loving the game of football. For 50 years, John Clayton watched the NFL from a perspective enjoyed by few. Not as a player or coach, but as a writer and broadcaster he spent his days discussing the game with many of the best minds in the sports past, current and future Hall of Famers were Clayton’s colleagues and friends.

Known nationally for his work with ESPN and considered a regional treasure in the Seattle area for his work on the Seattle Sports Saturday morning show, fans remembered Clayton after his passing. Callers into a special tribute show over the weekend echoed similar sentiments, regardless of your position or title John made you feel like he knew you and you were the most important person in the room.
‘The Professor’ as Clayton was known in many circles due to his deep sports knowledge, will be remembered most for who he was as a person. A dedicated husband and friend, he treated strangers, sports stars, and co-workers with kindness, graciousness, and generosity.
