Sione Takitaki Takes Draft Phone Call While Using Restroom

PROVO, Utah – After being drafted in the third round on Friday in the 2019 NFL Draft, former BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki took the phone call from the Cleveland Browns in the bathroom.
The former Cougar told the media on his conference call that he was sitting on the toilet when the Browns called him to let him know that they were going to draft him.
Takitaki was the only BYU player selected in the Draft and the second player from the state of Utah, when he was taken with the 80th overall pick in the third round to the Browns.
“I was watching it [the draft] on TV and I saw the [Los Angeles] Rams had their pick in and that Cleveland was next,” Takitaki said. “I never really talked to Cleveland in the past other than at the combine. So, I went to use the restroom and as I sat on the toilet, I get a call. I jumped right up and didn’t have to use the restroom anymore and then I answered my phone so, pretty funny,” he added.

The Browns didn’t have a first round pick in the 2019 Draft. They also drafted cornerback Greedy Williams out of LSU with their second round pick.
“This is a physical, physical football player. He plays with violence,” said Browns assistant general manager Eliot Wolf upon announcing the selection.
The Browns’ selection of the Takitaki marked the second consecutive year that a BYU linebacker was picked in the third round of the NFL Draft. Former Cougar Fred Warner was picked by the San Francisco 49ers in 2018.
