SALT LAKE CITY – The Boston Bruins are trading for winger JJ Peterka after a one-year stop in Utah proved a poor fit with the up-and-coming Mammoth.
NHL insider Frank Servelli reports Utah is receiving multiple first-round picks in return for the 24-year-old speedster.

The Mammoth adds Boston’s No. 23 first-round selection in tonight’s draft. They also receive the rights to Florida’s 2028 lottery-protected first round selection.
If the Florida pick lands in the top 10, it will convey as an unprotected Bruins first-round pick in 2029.

The Buffalo Sabres drafted the German-born skater in the second round, 34th overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Peterka reached the NHL the following season, getting a taste of the league’s speed in a two-game sample.
He went on to play 238 games with Buffalo, scoring 150 points (67 goals, 83 assists).
Utah acquired Peterka in the 2025 offseason in a trade that sent Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring to Buffalo in June 2025.

Peterka signed a five-year, $38.5 million deal after landing in Utah.
He played all 82 regular-season games in his lone season with the Mammoth. Peterka scored 25 goals and added 22 assists, but struggled to fully assimilate into head coach André Tourigny’s lineup.
The 2026 NHL Draft first round is taking place on Friday, June 26. Rounds 2-7 will be held on Saturday, June 27.
