The John Watson Northern Utah High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Northern Utah. Presented by John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winner this week was Bode Sparrow from Davis High School.
Sparrow was easily the star for the Darts against Syracuse. After jumping out to a 21-17 lead in the second quarter, Davis went to Sparrow in the end zone for the first time. Quarterback Paden Toula hit Sparrow with an 8-yard touchdown, and the Darts led at halftime 28-25. Sparrow was Toula’s favorite target in the second half, with the two connecting on two additional touchdowns, another from 8-yards away and the other from 25 yards out. Sparrow finished with 11 catches for 167 yards and the three aforementioned scores. On defense, Sparrow flew around the field, recording 11 tackles including a TFL and two passes defended.
Davis won the game 49-35.
