Scotland Falls To England In Corsie’s World Cup Debut

NICE, France – Utah Royals defender Rachel Corsie was on the pitch for her country’s first goal ever in a Women’s World Cup, but it wasn’t enough as Scotland fell to England 2-1.
It was the first ever Women’s World Cup match for the Scots, but their neighbor, England, was too powerful as the Lionesses outmatched Scotland nearly the entire match.
Scotland’s first goal game in the 79th minute after England scored both of its goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. Corsie, who serves as the captain of the Scottish national team, had a shot from the right side of the box in the 68th minute, but it was blocked and never reached the frame.

Nikita Parris and Ellen White were the goalscorers for England while Claire Emslie punched in the historic first goal for Scotland.
Scotland will move on to face Japan on Friday at Stade Océane in Le Havre.
