Davis High football star Bode Sparrow discusses final four schools

KAYSVILLE – Davis High star football player Bode Sparrow announced his top four schools.
Those four schools in the mix for the number-one prospect from the state of Utah in the 2027 cycle include the two in-state programs, BYU and Utah, along with Oklahoma from the SEC and Oregon from the Big Ten.
Sparrow, who plans to play safety in college, is set to take official visits to all four schools over the next month.

“It’s starting to get real right now,” Sparrow said to KSL Sports.
“I got my first offer when I was a freshman, so in my head, it was a down-the-road kind of thing. Obviously, it’s here.”
The Davis High standout is rated as the 69th overall prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the fourth-ranked athlete in the country.
Sparrow is a do-it-all player for Davis. He has over 3,000 career receiving yards as a receiver. On the defensive side, he has 16 interceptions.
Along with football, he’s played basketball for Davis.

It’s been a program and community that’s helped him navigate all the recruiting attention he’s been receiving from Power Four programs.
“Davis High is great. I’m coming up on my senior year, and obviously wouldn’t be here without everything that comes with Davis High, my coaches, teammates, and just the people around. It’s a pretty cool place with a lot of good people,” Sparrow said. “Coach (Scott) Peery and Coach (Chad) Sims, both great role models and good friends of mine, and literally some of the biggest reasons why I am where I am today. Davis High has been huge for me.”
Sparrow spoke with KSL Sports about the four schools he will be visiting over the next month.
Oklahoma: May 29-31
Oklahoma is currently the program that some recruiting analysts have “Crysal Balled” for Sparrow to pick in his recruitment. He broke down the Sooners.

“The Sooners are great. I’ve got great relationships with the staff, and obviously, just the place was awesome, they believe in me,” Sparrow said to KSL Sports. “They mostly have their class all committed, basically taken care of, besides me. All the players, know I’m the number one priority for them. They’re reaching out to me all the time and checking in on me. They show me constant love.”
“I’d start on defense there, and that defense was unreal last year, and playing under Venables defense and the safeties coach, me and him are really tight. … And the opportunity to play as a freshman is super high, so obviously, you mix all of those things together, and it makes a pretty good situation.”
Sparrow noted that Orem High star Krew Jones, who is currently committed to Oklahoma, has been one of those guys making pitches to join Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 2 nationally by 247Sports.
Jones has told Sparrow that he wants to be roommates with the Davis High standout if Sparrow decides to pick OU.
Oregon: June 5-7
The Oregon Ducks were the fourth program that Sparrow chose to lock in an official visit date with. Sparrow is impressed with head coach Dan Lanning.

“To be honest, Coach Lanning is the man,” Sparrow said. “He’s got that thing firing on all cylinders. You have a conversation with him for a little bit and he gets you fired up. Obviously, they got the guys to do it. It’s Oregon, it’s Nike. With the history and iconicness, it’s awesome.”
Utah: June 12-14
Utah was the second offer Sparrow received during his recruitment. He had a conversation earlier this week with new head coach Morgan Scalley, and he thinks highly of the new Utah headman, who was once a safety himself.

“(Morgan) Scalley and I have one of the best relationships. Whitt’s awesome, he did such a good thing for the program. But the more I think about it, Scalley is the man for that job. There’s no question. He’s just a stud. I think he’s a player’s coach. He cares about everyone. He’s one of the smartest guys I’ve actually ever met. So, obviously, he fires me up.”
“I’ve been getting to know their staff, and they’ve been great, and obviously, both sides of the ball are showing me a lot of love. I think a lot of opportunity is there.”
BYU: June 19-21
BYU was Sparrow’s first offer as a recruit. He had an in-home visit with BYU’s coaching staff on Wednesday, May 20.

“To be honest, I’m more high on them than I even was before with Jay (Hill),” said Sparrow. “And that’s nothing to Jay, I love Jay, obviously. I still have a great relationship with him at Michigan. K-Pop (Kelly Poppinga) and Coach (Demario) Warren are recruiting me at safety. Obviously, Fesi (Sitake) offered me way back in the day. I’ve got great relationships with them.
“Similar to Utah, Kalani (Sitake) is one of the best. I think there’s a reason BYU has been on the up the last couple of years and got some momentum. I really like them. Everyone’s kind of question mark is K-Pop and kind of just taking over for Jay and I think it’ll be a very smooth transition, if not better.”

What does Sparrow ultimately want to see from these four visits?
“I think ideally that I get a feeling from these visits, and it kind of clears my head up a little bit more, and I get a better idea of where I’m at with each school,” said Sparrow. “All four schools are great, and I love them. That’s why I’m taking visits to these places. Obviously, a lot of places are good. But in my process right now, I’ve got to try to find the greatest one and the best situation for me.”
