Brandon Matich Steps Down As East High Football Coach

SALT LAKE CITY – Longtime East High football head coach Brandon Matich is stepping down after 15 seasons with the school.
Matich confirmed the news on Thursday, June 12. He has been with the Leopards since the 2010 season.
“My family and I are very humbled and emotional over all of the posts on social media and overwhelmed by the supportive phone calls and texts,” Matich said of the support he has already received.
“It has been an emotional and painful 48 hours,” Matich continued. “I am aware of how difficult this is, because of how late it is happening in the year, and how close we are to the actual football season. However, when what you do starts to have an effect on who you are as a person, a husband and father… Then life needs to be re-evaluated. This is what is best for my health and the health of our family moving forward. And Family will always come first.”
I want to say thank you to the most amazing string of administrators that a coach could
be blessed with – Dr. Paul Sagers, Greg Maughn, and Ryan Oaks. All three of these men are amazing leaders, colleagues, and friends. I want to thank the most amazing and supportive community in the state – the East Bench and The 104! I want to thank my family for all of these years, through the wins, losses, championships, tough and good times. And most importantly- THE ONES THAT HAVE MY HEART – THE E BOYS! All of the hundreds of student/athletespast and present that have come through the program. You are the reason I have stayed so long… You are East High School forever! And Always – E’s UP, Respect the E! King of The Hill! And FOREVER EPTF!”

Matich was 138-60 at East High.
164-71 in 19 seasons as a head coach. He was 36-11 in four seasons with the Park City Minors (2006-2010).
