LOGAN, Utah – It was a tightly contested game on Thursday night that saw the ninth ranked Sky View picking up a 17-14 win over No. 16 Ridgeline.

For the Riverhawks, Kaden Cox threw a touchdown pass and ran in a score to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.

Defensive Effort In First Half

That gave the Bobcats a 7-0 lead with 3:27 left in the first quarter. Sky View didn’t get their first offensive possession until there was 58 seconds left in the opening quarter.

Midway through the second quarter, Kasen Carlsen threw an interception to Ridgeline cornerback and BYU commit Jovesa Damuni. The Riverhawks couldn’t capitalize. Sky View attempted a field goal to with three seconds left to potentially go up by 10 points but the attempted was missed.

Bobcats Squeak Out Victory

Sky View received the ball to start the second half and they had an efficient offense that ended with an 8-yard touchdown run by Walter Collins. The Bobcats took a 14-0 lead with 7:28 remaining in the third quarter.

Ridgeline couldn’t return the favor and were forced to punt on their first drive of the second half. When the Riverhawks got the ball back, Kaden Cox connected with Evan Webb for a touchdown. They also got the two-point conversion to trim Sky View’s lead to 14-8 with 1:36 left in the third quarter.

With 2:58 left in the game, Ridgeline powered their way into the end zone with a one-yard TD from Kaden Cox. They had trouble with the snap on the PAT and the holder was tackled so the game was tied at 14.

The Riverhawks had one more chance to win the game in regulation as they started with the ball at their own 6-yard line with 1:29 left in the game. After a big pass play by Ridgeline towards midfield, the receiver fumbled the ball and Sky View recovered the fumble just before going out of bounds, giving Sky View the final shot in regulation with 51 seconds left.

Kasen Erickson came on to attempt a 28-yard field goal with 11 seconds left and drilled it.
