Northern Utah High School Basketball Players of the Week – Week 11 – Ava Smith & Zach Hancock

SALT LAKE CITY – The John Watson Northern Utah High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school basketball players in Northern Utah. Presented by John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winners this week were Ava Smith from Layton Christian Academy and Zach Hancock from Fremont High School.

Northern Utah Players of the Week – Ava Smith & Zach Hancock

Ava Smith and the Layton Christian Eagles opened the 3A Playoffs last week in style. In a 57-41 victory over Manti, she led all scorers with 28 points as LCA advanced to the second round.

Hancock was the engine that drove the Fremont Silver Wolves to close out their regular season in style. In a 72-49 blowout at Bonneville, he tallied 24 points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. He followed it up with 25 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in a 69-50 victory over Clearfield.
