Week 2: Thursday night’s Utah high school football recap

SALT LAKE CITY — Week 2 of the 2026 Utah high school football season arrived, with the usual early appetizer Thursday night before the full buffet of Friday.
This week also includes a third day of strong matchups, including a top-tier tilt between Orem and Skyridge on a Saturday edition of Game Night Live.
Here’s what you may have missed.
Syracuse 52, Granger 6
At Syracuse, Ledger Wright threw four touchdown passes, and Kao Prom ran for two as the Titans overwhelmed the Lancers to improve to 2-0.
Wright also broke off a 51-yard touchdown run in the first 30 seconds of the game, and Syracuse held Granger (0-2) off the scoreboard until BYU commit Maa’imoa Havili rumbled for an 80-yard touchdown with 10:14 left in the third quarter.
Kaleb Hall, Taggart Gailey, Isaac Edwards and Bo Metcalfe each caught a touchdown pass for Syracuse, which hosts Bountiful next Friday, Aug. 28.
Granger hosts an upstart Alta next Friday.

Alta 13, Bingham 12
At Alta, Xavier Cocci scored on a 5-yrd run with 2:10 remaining as the Hawks rallied for a second-straight rivalry win over Bingham on Thursday night.
Kash Dawson found Chance Marti to open the scoring for Bingham (0-2), and Tovo Paea stretched the lead to 12-0 with a 3-yard run with 5:32 left in the third quarter.
But Alta (2-0) pulled one back through Treven Cooke with 1:33 left in the third, setting up Cocci’s late heroics to secure the win.
Morgan 47, Sky View 0
At Morgan, Owen Gilson connected with George Thurston for two of his four touchdown passes as the 3A Trojans routed the 4A Bobcats in cross-classification play.
Thurston and Rhett Larsen also ran for a touchdown to lead Morgan (1-1) to their first win of the season.
