Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week – Week 5 – Ethan Sam

The Hercules Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Salt Lake County. Presented by Hercules First Federal Credit Union, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winner this week was Granger running back Ethan Sam.

Salt Lake County Player of the Week – Ethan Sam, Granger

Granger entered the 2026 season with a young team, new head coach, and a tough schedule. The Lancers welcomed in Taylorsville, both needing a win to turn their fortunes on the season, and keep pace in the region 4 race. Granger would be the team to start off strong, as they broke out to an early lead, outscoring the Warriors 28-10 in the first half. Senior running back Ethan Sam broke free for Granger and helped lead the team in rushes and carried a large chunk of the offensive production for the Lancers.

Ethan Sam ran all over for Granger, finishing the night with 26 carries 316-yards and 5 total touchdowns. Ethan had multiple rushing touchdowns that went for 50+ yards! The Lancers kept hold of momentum through the second half, including their defense holding the Warriors scoreless. Ethan and Granger added on 21 more points in the second half to put the game fully away and got into the win column, now at 1-1 in region 4 play.
