Former Real Salt Lake Director Appointed Nottingham Forest CEO

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Real Salt Lake scout and technical director Dane Murphy has been appointed CEO of English Championship side Nottingham Forest.
The Rise Of Murphy
Murphy served as a scout for RSL before being announced as the Technical Director in January of 2018. His front office career began at the New York Cosmos of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).
The current general manager of RSL Elliot Fall met Murphy in Ghana at a soccer combine. His relationship with Fall flourished and he was hired by RSL shortly after the scouting trip to Ghana.
In November of 2018, Murphy departed RSL to pursue a similar position with elevated responsibility at D.C. United, the club that he began his professional playing career with.

Midway through 2019, news broke that Murphy was heading across the pond to join Barnsley F.C. as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). During his first year as CEO, Barnsley managed to survive relegation in the Championship. Then, in 2021 Barnsley flew up the Championship standings and made the playoffs but fell short to Swansea in their attempt to find Premier League promotion.

Nottingham Forest is a proud club, a club that has a rich and profound history in English soccer. At 35-years-old, Murphy has climbed the management ladder within the world game quickly.

“I am extremely excited at this opportunity,” Murphy said in an interview shortly after the announcement was made. “It is a historic club with global recognition and is something that as a young American looking across the pond at the English game you clearly and easily recognize the name of Nottingham Forest. It is really a unique opportunity for someone in my position and I cannot wait to get started,” he added.
Furthermore, Nottingham Forest recently announced the signing of 26-year-old goalkeeper Ethan Horvath from Club Brugge.
The Championship season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 7th. Nottingham Forest will first travel to Coventry on August 8th to open its 2021/22 campaign.
