SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Royals player Alex Kimball hopes to forever alter the development of the next generation after launching a virtual program designed for female soccer players between the ages of 13-17 years old titled Ultimate Virtual Soccer Training for Female Athletes.

Kimball, who was born in Utah, but grew up in North Carolina, is fixated on the idea that the next generation can learn and develop faster through the lessons learned by the likes of herself and others. Specifically, as it relates to looking after your body and preventing injury.

Furthermore, with the current status of the global coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty that surrounds everyday life as we know it, the virtual aspect of this education provides female athletes with a platform that they can utilize despite the pandemic’s restrictions.

“If I would have known the things that I know, now, I probably could have avoided a lot of mistakes, a lot of injuries, a lot of careless errors,” Kimball told KSL Sports.

Kimball’s career began when she was three-years-old. Her mother was a talented soccer player back in her day and was quick to introduce Kimball to the global game. She moved to North Carolina when she was eight and soon thereafter decided that it was her dream to play for the North Carolina Tarheels. Kimball worked every day to try and turn her dream into a reality.

She won, and from 2014 to 2018 she starred for the prestigious Tarheels making her mother and everybody associated with her very, very proud.

Career Altering Injury Prevention

However, over the course of her soccer career, injuries have also played a role in her ability to stay fit. Kimball has unfortunately experienced the hurt and agony that an injury can cause any athlete. She has been sidelined on numerous occasions.

Her frustration through injury gave her the inspiration to begin the virtual soccer training journey.

The ultimate goal is to see the girls grow, both as players and as people. Kimball is directly responsible for teaching the girls how to prepare your body and mind for the rigors that soccer requires.

Other members of her team help with the nutritional aspect of the game, the mental component, and other areas that teenage girls can better themselves in.

Kimball will also rely on her network within the game to help, other players that are featured in the six-week course include Manchester United forward Alesia Russo, North Carolina Courage forward Jessica McDonald, and former BYU defender Alyssa Jefferson.

“I’m getting excited because I think that it’s something, especially with the pandemic and everyone being stuck at home, that people are genuinely interested in,” Kimball said. “I think that if we can have just the slightest impact on minimizing injuries within female athletes, I would say that that’s our number one goal,” she added.

The course itself lasts six weeks and requires four to five hours per week.

More information on the course and how to sign up can be found here.
