SEATTLE, Wash. – No. 9 Utah played one of their best games this season and picked up one of the biggest wins since joining the Pac-12 conference in 2011 with a 33-28 victory over the Washington Huskies.

It was Utah’s second win over Washington as the Huskies hold a 6-2 record since they became conference foes.

Here is the Crimson Corner’s “three-point-stance,” the three takeaways from Utah’s win over Washington:

Tyler Huntley Is Truly ‘A Warrior’

After nursing a knee injury that Tyler Huntley suffered two weeks ago in their 21-3 win over Arizona State, Huntley wasn’t 100 percent healthy last week against Cal and didn’t look completely healthy against Washington. That didn’t stop the senior quarterback from making big plays in the second half to help the Utes get a win in a hostile environment.

Huntley recorded 284 passing yards and one touchdown through the air, while completing 19 of his 24 pass attempts. He also ran in a one-yard touchdown to give Utah the lead in the fourth quarter. On the season, he has 11 passing touchdowns and just one interception and has completed 73.8 percent of his passes.

Zack Moss Continues To Build G.O.A.T Resume In Utah History

It’s the third consecutive week that Moss has broken at least one school record. The record on Saturday that Moss broke was the most career total touchdowns in Utah football history, passing Eddie Johnson, who had 35 total touchdowns in his career.

In Utah’s win over Arizona State, Moss passed Johnson for the most career rushing yards in school history. Last week in their 35-0 shutout win over California, the senior tailback broke two records. The first one was the most career rushing touchdowns in Utah football history, passing Del Rodgers, who had 31. He also rushed for 100-yards in a game for the 15th time in his career, passing a three-way tie with Devontae Booker and John White for the most career 100-yard rushing games in school history.

Moss had 100 rushing yards on 27 carries and one touchdown in Utah’s massive win over the Washington Huskies, while catching five passing for 41 yards and one touchdown. The senior running back had to earn those yards with his longest run at 18-yards and he averaged 3.7 yards per carry against a physical defense.

Defense Overcomes Adversity In Second Half

Washington jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the second quarter and it looked like the Huskies were going to run away with it. But, the defense was able to get key stops, including a stop on fourth and one in the second quarter to help the Utes score a field goal to trail 14-13 at halftime.

The second half was the game changer when cornerback Jaylon Johnson shifted the momentum with an interception returned for a touchdown to bring Utah within two points. Earlier in the third quarter, Julian Blackmon had his third interception of the season, but Utah’s offense couldn’t capitalize on offense on the following possession.

Utah’s defense managed to limit Washington’s rushing attack to just 53 yards and no touchdowns. All four scores from the Huskies came through the air from Jacob Eason, who threw the ball 52 times.

Washington head coach Chris Petersen was 14-0 in games after a bye week in his career, Utah gave him his first loss. The Huskies have lost two straight games for the first time since 2015, which coincidentally is the other time that Utah knocked off the Huskies in this series.

Utah will have a bye this week before returning to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, November 16 against the UCLA Bruins. Game time and broadcast information will be announced on Monday.
