SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau has concluded his second round at the Charles Schwab Classic at four-under-par that concluded with a birdie on his final hole of the round.

The Perfect Start

Finau started the day at one-under-par, six shots behind the leaders Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia, and got off to the perfect start following a chip-in from the greenside bunker on the first hole of his second round.

Finau, unlike yesterday, teed off on the 10th tee on Friday playing alongside Henrik Stenson and the current leader Jason Kokrak.

After chipping in on the first hole, Finau added to his birdie streak by going three-under-par through his first three holes. His final birdie fell on the 18th and he made the turn at five-under-par on the tournament.

Then, another birdie dropped on the first hole and Finau looked poised to make his run heading into the weekend.

Final Stretch Stumble

However, the first crack in his round came on the par 4 3rd after he found the right rough off the tee he then caught a flyer with his approached and missed the green long. He left himself with an 11-foot putt for par that just tricked by the hole and he conceded his first bogey of the day.

The disaster struck on the par 4 7th when he made a double bogey. Finau left his approach shot short of the green, he opted to attempt a flop shot over the bunker that separated Finau’s ball and the pin, however, his flop shot found the sand. He chipped on, two putted and left the 7th with double.

Fortunately, Finau’s round ended much like it started; with a birdie on his final hole of the day after he found the bottom of the cup after leaving himself an 8-foot putt.

Finau still sits six shots back from his playing companion Jason Kokrak who leads the field at 10-under-par. Jordan Spieth is yet to tee off but will begin his second round at seven-under-par.

Finau enters the weekend in a current tie for 12th, however, that will likely change over the course of the day as more golfers enter the clubhouse.

Tee times and playing groups are yet to be announced ahead of the weekend. Finau will make the cut.
