SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team had a 28-0 lead at halftime due to the outstanding performances on both sides of the ball.

On offense, Utah scored touchdowns on their final four drives of the first half. Quarterback Tyler Huntley completed 11 of his 17 pass attempts for 214 yards and one touchdown. He was seen limping around in the first half and missed some plays. The senior suffered a leg injury last week against Arizona State.

Jason Shelley took Huntley’s place and accounted for two touchdowns in the first half, one passing and one rushing. He rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Running back Zack Moss carried the ball 13 times for 65 yards and one touchdown, he also hauled in three catches for 89 yards.

Moss broke the school record for career rushing touchdowns in the first quarter.

On the defensive side of the ball, Utah has created havoc on Cal’s third string quarterback in true freshman Spencer Brasch. He went 3-for-10 passing for 20 yards. Running back duo Christopher Brown Jr. and Marcel Dancy were held to 32 rushing yards on 6 attempts combined.

Utes star defensive tackle Leki Fotu picked up his first sack of the season, while 10 defensive players have at least one tackle in the first half. They held Cal to just 53 yards of total offense, 20 passing and 33 rushing.
