The Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Spanish Fork wide receiver Nixon Warren.
Utah County Player of the Week – Nixon Warren, Spanish Fork
The Spanish Fork Dons traveled down to Snow Canyon in a non-region week one match up and played a triple overtime thriller. Spanish Fork’s Nixon Warren caught 10 passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns in the season opening loss. Nixon Warren scored his first touchdown late in the first quarter, a 79-yard pass from quarterback Hawkin Rasmussen, to cut into the Snow Canyon Warriors lead. Nixon added another touchdown before halftime where the Dons trailed 27-14
In the second half, Spanish Fork turned the tide in their favor scoring four touchdowns, including another two receiving touchdowns from Nixon. Defensively, the Dons held Snow Canyon to two scores in the second half. With the score all tied up at 42-42, Spanish Fork and Snow Canyon traded touchdowns through double overtime. Nixon Warren scored touchdown number five of the evening, a 25 yard reception, in double overtime. Spanish Fork scored first in triple overtime, but missed its two-point conversion. Snow Canyon responded with a touchdown and two point conversion to win the football game.
