Utah Warriors Mascot Name Contest Opens

HERRIMAN, Utah – The Utah Warriors today announced the addition of a new mascot for the Major League Rugby professional team. The Warriors also announced a two-week-long naming contest for fans to vote on the new mascot’s name.

The black panther mascot was introduced to the capacity crowd at Zions Bank Stadium tonight at halftime of the Warriors nationally broadcast game on FS2 against the Toronto Arrows.
Sporting the team’s hallmark “four stripes,” emblematic of the Warriors’ organizational Core Values of “Community, Family, Tradition, and Respect” the black panther is a symbol of the diverse communities of Utah, that is a veritable “Crossroad of the West.”
The black panther’s tenacity, strength, and sense of community make it a perfect symbol for Warriors Nation.
“Warriors Nation needed its hero,” said CEO and GM Kimball Kjar, “Someone kids would look up to but someone that this community could rally behind. The black panther is a perfect representation of our Core Values and something that be an emblem of this great community for decades to come. And we need all of Warriors Nation and all of Utah to help us give him the name deserving of this hero!”
Voting on the mascot’s name will be open until April 9, 2021, with the mascot’s name to be revealed along with the contest winner at the next home match on April 10th against the Seattle Seawolves.
