Former Utah AD Chris Hill To Be Inducted Into Utah Sports Hall Of Fame

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former University of Utah Director of Athletics Chris Hill will be inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame on Monday during the organization’s annual induction banquet.
Hill retired in 2018 after spending 31 years as the Utes A.D. He will join U.S. Olympic skeleton great Jim Shea, Bobbsledder Shauna Rochbock, a pair of distance swimming legends Richard and David Barnes, and longtime Utah State athletics donor Jim Laub.
The University of Utah currently has 57 former athletes, coaches or administrators previously enshrined in the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, dating back to the initial class in 1970.

At the time of his retirement, Hill was the longest tenured athletics director at the same school in the NCAA FBS, beginning his tenure at age 37. Hill has a long list of accomplishments that the University has experienced under his leadership, including joining a power-five conference, the Pac-12 in 2011. He has also maintained a reputation of excellence in basketball, gymnastics and skiing. When he was first hired, he immediately focused on redefining Utah football and the program is in a very good place.
Hill hired some of the greatest coaches in Utah football and basketball history, including Ron McBride, Urban Meyer and Kyle Whittingham in football along with Rick Majerus in basketball.
