Utes Land Local 4 Star DE Xavier Carlton

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Four-star defensive end Xavier Carlton announced his commitment to Utah Football early Thursday morning.

Carlton went to high school in Utah at Juan Diego Catholic High School.

The 6’7”, 252-pound defensive end had offers from nearly every Pac-12 school and other schools like Ohio State and LSU.

He is rated No. 11 among defensive ends and No. 3 in the state of Utah. He has received invitations to play in both the Polynesian Bowl and the All-American Bowl.

His father Demetrius played for the Utes as a linebacker in 1989.

With the addition of Carlton and Van Fillinger, who signed Wednesday, the Utes will have incredible depth at the defensive end position.

With Xavier Carlton, Van Fillinger and Tyler Wegis joining Maxs Tupai and Mika Tafua, Utah's DE position is DEEP.
