Jazz Cruise Past Mavericks For 11th Straight Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz swept the two-game series with the Dallas Mavericks, 120-101 for their 11th straight victory on Friday night.

Bojan Bogdanovic led the Jazz with a season-high 32 points, shooting 10-of-16 from the field and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc in the win over the Mavericks. Mike Conley added 22 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals. Jordan Clarkson scored 18 points off the bench. Rudy Gobert had another double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Juwan Morgan had a career-high 12 points, while Joe Ingles scored all 10 of his points in the first quarter.

Luka Doncic scored 25 points for the Mavericks, along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Jalen Brunson contributed 13 points, while both Kristaps Porzingis and Dorian Finney-Smith scored 11 points apiece.

Jazz Go On Big Run In First Half To Begin Blowout Over Mavericks

Utah got off to a great start and was on fire on both ends of the floor. They ended the first quarter on a 19-3 run and took a 37-12 lead.

Joe Ingles led the way with 10 points, including 2-of-3 shooting from the three-point line. He broke John Stockton’s record for the most threes in Utah Jazz history. Jordan Clarkson knocked down three triples in the opening quarter to add 9 points to the 37 for Utah. Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic each had 5 points. Rudy Gobert and Juwan Morgan chipped in 3 points apiece. Georges Niang scored a bucket as well.

Dallas struggled offensively, shooting 3-of-20 for 15 percent from the floor and 2-for-13 from beyond the arc for 15 percent. The 12 points came from four players. Luka Doncic led with six points, Dorian Finney-Smith had three points, while Josh Richardson added two points and Jalen Brunson had one.

The Mavericks had more turnovers than field goals made with under 10 minutes left in the second quarter. They had 7 turnovers and 5 field goals made.

Dallas turned things around in the second quarter by outscoring the Jazz 33-24. Luka Doncic had 11 points in the quarter, while the Jazz made just 6-of-16 from the field. Utah had a 61-45 lead at the half.

Jazz Come Out Of Locker Room On Fire In Second Half

With Dallas gaining momentum at the end of the first half, the Jazz put that to bed right out of the gates in the third quarter. They made five three-pointers and didn’t commit a single turnover in the period. Bojan Bogdanovic was fantastic with 17 third quarter points, going 5-of-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.

As a team, Dallas was outscored 33-23 in the quarter. Doncic added 8 points in the third and Jalen Brunson had 6 points. Utah’s biggest lead reached 28 in the third before taking a 94-68 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Utah was cruising to the win before Dallas pulled to within 15 but the Jazz were able to extend it.

The Jazz improved their record to 15-4 and still have the best record in the NBA. They will be on the road for a quick trip to Denver to face the Nuggets on Sunday, January 31. Tip-off is at 1:30 p.m. MST and will be televised on NBA TV and AT&T SportsNet.
