Former Utah Coach Jim Boylen Named Bulls Head Coach

CHICAGO, Ill. – With the firing of head coach Fred Hoiberg, the Chicago Bulls have named former University of Utah head coach Jim Boylen their permanent head coach.
Hoiberg was fired after a 5-19 start to the season.

As a result, Boylen has been named to his first head coaching job in the NBA and will not have an interim title, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
As head coach at the University of Utah, his only other head coaching experience, Boylen took the Utes to a 69-60 record from 2007-11. The Utes reached the NCAA Tournament in the 2008-09, Boylen’s only appearance in the Big Dance as a head coach.
Boylen has significant assistant coaching experience both professionally and collegiately. He has been on the bench for Michigan State University, the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Indiana Pacers, and the San Antonio Spurs prior to landing his former role as associate head coach with the Bulls.
