UVU Beats Seattle In Comeback Fashion

OREM, Utah – After trailing by as much as 20 points in the first half, Utah Valley stormed back in the second half to outscore Seattle 51-28 to pick up an 88-78 win.
Jake Toolson scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half to lead the Wolverines in scoring. Isaiah White added 14 points and Richard Harward had a career-night with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
The Redhawks had four players score in double figures with Morgan Means leading the team with 20 points. Myles Carter, Terrell Brown and Delante Jones scored 16 points apiece.
Seattle Gets Big Lead Early
It wasn’t the ideal start for the Wolverines as Seattle jumped out to a 16-5 lead just five minutes into the game before Conner Toolson cut the lead to eight with a three-pointer.
Halfway through the first half, the Redhawks made four straight field goals and was out to a commanding 28-14 advantage.
Seattle went on a 14-3 run while the Wolverines committed 4 turnovers during that stretch. Utah Valley was shooting just 37 percent from the field while the Redhawks hit 6 of their first 10 three-point attempts.
The game was starting to slip away for the Wolverines with Seattle holding a 37-18 lead.
With four minutes remaining in the half, Utah Valley made four straight field goals and cut the lead to 41-25.
The Wolverines outscored Seattle 12-9 to go to the halftime break trailing 50-37.
Utah Valley Storms Back
The Wolverines had a fantastic start in the second half as they outscored Seattle 14-5 having played just five minutes of the second half. The Redhawks held a slim 55-51 lead.
Seattle would keep the lead at five with 12 minutes left in the game but the momentum still with Utah Valley.
T.J. Washington hit a pair of free-throws to pull within two points with nine minutes left.
The Wolverines went on an impressive 11-1 run to take a 3 point lead with 6 minutes remaining, Connor Toolson was up to 18 points.
A put-back dunk by Harward brought the UCCU Center alive, giving the Wolverines a 6-point lead.
After back-to-back “And-One’s” by Jake Toolson, Utah Valley had their biggest lead of the game, 83-76 with two minutes remaining in the game.
Utah Valley made their free-throws to complete the comeback with a win over Seattle.

The Wolverines moved their record to 12-6 overall and 1-2 in the WAC. They will face UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday at the UCCU Center at 7 p.m. on the KSL TV app.
