Neto Has Big 4th Quarter For Jazz Against Clippers

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz pulled off a big win over the LA Clippers thanks to a gutsy performance by Raul Neto.

The Brazilian point guard, who is usually reserved for back up duties, played major minutes down the stretch of the Jazz victory due to a an injury to starting point guard Ricky Rubio.

Rubio had been playing well in the game, scoring 13 points in 24 minutes before being ruled out midway through the fourth quarter with hamstring tightness.

Head coach Quin Snyder talked after the game about his contribution down the stretch.

“Raul, in particular, came in and was terrific and just did a lot of little things, made a couple big plays,” said Snyder.

Ricky Rubio (left hamstring tightness) will not return.

In his absence, Neto came and finished the game off strong. Donovan Mitchell had 32 points, but Neto’s 10 points may have been the most valuable performance in Utah’s 111-105 win. He was 3-of-7 shooting with, 7 points and two key 3-pointers in the final quarter.

The Jazz won 111-105 and came back from a 17-point deficit.

The outcome may have major playoff race implications as the Jazz are Clippers were No. 6 and 7 in the Western Conference standings going into the game.
