Damian Lillard Dropped 51 Points Against Oklahoma City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Weber State star Damian Lillard dropped 51 points for the Blazers against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Former Ute Jakob Poeltl continues to start and play well for the Spurs on their six game winning streak.

Kyle Kuzma returned at the end of the week after his ankle injury and played well

Frank Jackson is stepping up for the Pelicans as he is now starting in place of the injured Jrue Holiday.

Delon Wright is embracing his role with the Grizzlies and has been a critical part of their recent success since joining the team in February.

Here’s how the locals did during Week 21 of the NBA season from Wednesday, March 6 to Tuesday, March 12:

Former Utes

Kyle Kuzma – Los Angeles Lakers (31-36)

The Lakers are struggling, have lost five straight games before snapping the skid against the Bulls.

Kyle Kuzma was out for two of the Lakers three games of the week with an ankle injury.

He posted 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in their win over the Bulls.

This season, Kuzma is averaging 18.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

NEXT UP: The Lakers will have four games during Week 22, all are on the road. They will face the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks.

 

Jakob Poeltl – San Antonio Spurs (39-29)

The Spurs have won six straight games. Jakob Poeltl started in two of the three games for the Spurs.

Poeltl missed their game against Atlanta with a hamstring injury.

The former Ute had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 27 minutes of play in their win over the Bucks.

Poeltl finished with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 29 minutes in the Spurs’ win over the Mavericks.

This season, Poeltl is averaging 5.4 points and 5.1 rebounds this season.

NEXT UP: The Spurs will play three games during Week 21. They will face Atlanta on the road, Milwaukee at home and on the road against Dallas.

 

Delon Wright – Memphis Grizzlies (28-40)

Memphis has won five of their last seven games.

Delon Wright started the week with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the Grizzlies’ win over the Jazz

He recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes of play in their win over the Magic.

The former Ute is averaging 7.6 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season.

NEXT UP: Memphis has just two games during Week 22 with both games on the road against Atlanta and Washington.

 

Former Wildcats

Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers (41-26)

The Trail Blazers went 2-1 during Week 21.

Damian Lillard exploded with 51 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists on 15-of-28 shooting from the field in the Blazers’ loss to the Thunder.

He recorded 18 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists in their 7-point win over Phoenix.

Lillard posted 20 points, 3 rebounds, 12 assists and 2 steals in their win over the Clippers.

The former Wildcat is averaging 26 points, 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this season.

NEXT UP: Portland will play three games during Week 22. They will face New Orleans and San Antonio on the road before hosting Indiana.

 

Former High School Standouts

Frank Jackson – New Orleans Pelicans (30-40)

Starter Jrue Holiday will miss some time with an injury, which means that Frank Jackson will start in his place. He started three of the four games.

The former Lone Peak star posted 13 points, 4 assists and 1 steal in 28 minutes as the Pelicans lost to the Jazz.

In their win over the Raptors, Jackson recorded 20 points and 6rebounds in 37 minutes of play.

He scored 23 points to go with his 6 rebounds and 2 assists in their loss to the Hawks.

Jackson wrapped up the week with 14 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists against the Bucks.

The former Duke Blue Devil is averaging 7.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this season.

NEXT UP: The Pelicans will play three games during Week 22, beginning at home against the Trail Blazers and Suns before traveling to Dallas.
