Cougars Infielder Casey Jacobsen Named WCC Player Of The Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced that BYU senior infielder Casey Jacobsen was named the conference Player of the Week.
Jacobsen had six hits, four runs, three RBI’s and two home runs last week. He came up big against Utah when the Cougars were down 2-1 in the eighth inning, Jacobsen singled to right field to bring in the run that tied the game. The senior later scored when Danny Gelaich hit a grand slam.
In the final series of the regular season against Santa Clara, Jacobsen had two home runs, hitting a solo shot in the first game of the series and hit the second homer in game two.
He finished the week with no errors in four starts at third base as the Cougars won their third conference regular season title in the last four years.

The Player of the Week award was the first for Jacobsen in his career and the fifth award given to a BYU player this season. Jackson Cluff won three times and Brock Hale once.
BYU is the No. 1-seed in the upcoming WCC Tournament and are ranked No. 24 in the country. They will face Loyola Marymount on Thursday at 4 p.m.
