Mitchell Could Be Selected To USA Roster For FIBA World Cup

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The FIBA World Cup of Basketball will take place this summer in China and the United States roster is still being finalized by head coach Gregg Popovich.
NBA Insider Marc Stein of the New York Times has reported the interest in certain players to make the 12-man roster and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is one of them.

Mitchell will be traveling around the world with Adidas for the release of his signature shoe. The FIBA World Cup is from August 31 to September 15. NBA training camp opens on September 27. That would be a busy time for Mitchell, but would certainly want to represent the United States at a global level.
The last Jazzman that had a chance to play for the U.S. was Gordon Hayward, but he was only invited to camp and did not make the final roster.
Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams both won a gold medal with the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
Other players being mentioned include Charlotte Hornets’ guard Kemba Walker, New Orleans star Anthony Davis, Houston Rockets guard James Harden and future No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.
USA Basketball’s training camp will begin in August.
