BYU Looks To Get Revenge Against Saint Mary’s

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Cougars men’s basketball looks to exact revenge from a loss to the Saint Mary’s Gaels from the first meeting between the two teams this season.
BYU hosts Saint Mary’s at the Marriott Center on Saturday, February 1 at 8 p.m. (MDT).
The Gaels defeated the Cougars 87-84 in Moraga, California on January 9.
BYU guards TJ Haws and Jake Toolson carried the Cougars in the three-point loss as the Cougars were without star Yoeli Childs due to injury.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” said BYU head coach Mark Pope after the loss. “They’re fighting and they’re working and they’re getting better and they are trying to digest everything that we’re asking them to do. They came out here and battled courageously and didn’t go away. I just gotta get better. My staffs gotta get better. We shouldn’t lose this game. It’s really disappointing.”
The Cougars forced overtime before Gaels guard Jordan Ford closed out a victory in the final minute of play.
Ford ended the game with 24 points on 8-16 shooting including 4-8 from three. He added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in 43 minutes.

Haws led all scorers with 29 points on 11-24 shooting. He added 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 40 minutes.
Toolson poured in 24 points on 9-19 field goals. He added 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 40 minutes on the court.
The Cougars and Gaels rematch tips off on Saturday, February 1 at 8 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on KSL NewsRadio 1160 AM and 102.7 FM. The game will be televised on ESPN2. Tickets for the game start at $11.
