Starters Lead Utah Jazz In Wire-To-Wire Victory Over New York Knicks

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Utah’s starting lineup controlled the game from tip-off and led the Jazz in a wire-to-wire win over the New York Knicks.

The Jazz played against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 4.

Utah opened the game with a Royce O’Neale three-pointer and never tied or trailed the Knicks throughout the rest of regulation. The Jazz’s largest lead of the game was a 21 point margin during the final quarter of play.

Utah dominated the first three quarters of the game to coast to a 112-104 victory.

The victory was Utah’s third in a row after they defeated the Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers in recent days.

“We did play well for a couple of games and I don’t know that our guys lost confidence as much as they lost some focus during that stretch. It’s good to have that back,” said Jazz head coach Quin Snyder after the win. “You’re a lot more confident when you’re playing well and being precise and playing the right way. We’ve got a little more urgency right now. We gotta keep playing. We’ve got plenty more.”

Bogey & Spida

Jazzmen Bojan Bogdanovic and Donovan Mitchell each scored 23 points to carry Utah’s offense in the Big Apple.

Bogdanovic scored his total during the first 36 minutes of game time. He finished the game shooting 7-15 on field goals including 3-8 from the arc. He added 6 points from the foul line. Bogdanovic recorded 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block in 33 minutes on the court.

Mitchell’s 23 points came on 9-12 shooting including 1-7 from three-point range. The Jazz guard shot a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. He added 1 rebound, 8 assists, and 2 steals in 34 minutes.

Gobzilla

Jazz center Rudy Gobert posted a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. He shot 7-8 from the field and pulled down 4 offensive boards. Gobert added 1 assist and 2 blocks in 34 minutes on the floor.

Mountain Mike

Utah point guard Mike Conley scored 17 points on 6-9 shooting. Conley added 2 rebounds and 6 assists, in 27 minutes.

“Every now and then you’ve got to go through the lulls of the season just to remind you who you are,” Conley told Jazz TV after the win.

The Jazz finished the game shooting 50.6 percent overall and 27.8 percent from downtown.

New York ended the contest shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from three.

The Knicks were led by Julius Randle’s 32 points on 12-21 field goals. New York’s Bobby Portis poured in 21 points off the bench.

Up Next

With the win, the Jazz improved to 39-22 on the season while the Knicks fell to 19-43.

The Jazz continue a four-game road trip against the Boston Celtics on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. (MDT).

The Celtics defeated the Jazz 114-103 in the first meeting of the season series on February 26. Donovan Mitchell scored 37 points in the loss. The game was played in Salt Lake City.

Utah vs. Boston will broadcast on NBA League Pass, AT&T SportsNet, and 97.5 FM.
