Mike Tyson Returning To Ring With Exhibition Bout Against Roy Jones Jr.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will return to the ring for an exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Junior on September 12.
The bout will be eight rounds and the fighters will use 12-ounce gloves. The match will be broadcast on pay-per-view along with multi-media platform, Triller. Triller will also be doing a ten-part docuseries leading up to the fight.

Tyson (50-6) last fought in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride. Jones Jr. (66-9) was last in the ring in 2018. Executive Director of the California State Athletic Commission, Andy Foster told Yahoo! Sports that he believed there wouldn’t be any headgear in the fight.
Tyson is 54-years-old, he lost his last two fights to McBride and Danny Williams in 2004 before retiring from boxing. His first fight was in 1985 when he won his first 37 bouts before suffering his first loss in 1990 to Buster Douglas. Tyson won the next eight fights before losing the second fight of his career to Evander Holyfield.
Jones Jr. had his first bout in 1989 when he won his first 34 fights before he lost to Montell Griffin in 1997. He went on a 15-fight win streak after his first loss before falling to Antonio Tarver in 2004. His last fight in 2018 was a win over Scott Sigmon via unanimous decision.
