PROVO, Utah – BYU athletics announced on Tuesday ticket plans for football home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, BYU will transition their ticketing from season tickets to an individual game-by-game model for the upcoming home schedule.

BYU’s home opener will be on Saturday, September 26 against Troy. The Cougars announced that 6,000 fans will be allowed in the stadium with 1,500 fans in four sections. Tickets for the game against the Trojans will go on sale on September 14 through BYUtickets.com. Distribution will be based on the athletic department’s priority point system and will be available on a limited basis.

In order to provide fans a safe and positive experience, LaVell Edwards Stadium will be evenly divided into its four natural sections, with separate entrance and exit locations for each section. This game-by-game model will allow for the stadium capacity to increase as the season progresses based on available pandemic data and the recommendation of the state, university and public health officials. A percentage of the available tickets for each home game will be set aside for BYU ROC students.

“We appreciate the university administration, government officials and a variety of medical experts who helped develop a plan to best ensure a safe and healthy game-day experience at LaVell Edwards Stadium,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “We are in the process of reaching out to season ticket holders with options for purchasing tickets.”

All fans attending football games at LaVell Edwards Stadium this season will have a ticketed seat. Each ticket will be delivered digitally. As for the stadium transactions which includes concessions and merchandise will be cashless. In compliance with university guidelines and protocols, masks are required in all areas of BYU campus, including LaVell Edwards Stadium. Other additional information regarding stadium access and game day protocols will be provided to those fans purchasing tickets.

The Cougars are coming off of a 55-3 win over Navy on Monday night in their season opener in Annapolis, Maryland. BYU now has seven games remaining on their current schedule, five home games against Troy, UTSA, Texas State, Western Kentucky and North Alabama. They have two road games left on the schedule including Army and Houston.
