Frustration Beginning To Boil Over Within Utah Football Team After Second Consecutive Game Cancelled

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Frustration is beginning to boil over inside the University of Utah football program as a second consecutive game was recently canceled due to a shortage of players on Utah’s behalf.

COVID-19 has taken its toll on the Utah program who was one of the first Pac-12 football teams to begin workouts back when the pandemic was only just gaining steam.

However, here we are in the middle of November and Utah has still not stepped foot onto a field in 2020. It hurts to think about it.

The players are being put through a rigid testing regime while focusing a lot of attention on the upcoming opponent only to learn that the game has been canceled some 24 hours before it was expected to kick-off.

What is worse is that Mark Harlan, Utah’s Athletic Director, believes that the positive tests within the program are all coming from the community.

“After speaking with experts and analyzing the data we believe that all of the positive cases are coming from the community,” Harlan said to the media on Friday afternoon.

Utah is one of many programs across the country that has had its fair share of issues with the coronavirus. Currently, there are roughly 60 college football games that have been canceled this week due to outbreaks.

Can College Football survive? It seems as though that we are getting closer to a time where college football hangs up the cleats for 2020. Some teams, like BYU, have played in eight games while others like Utah is yet to see the field.

If you were one who believed that the sport usually has parity, think again, college football in 2020 has none of it.

But the show must go on, the bills need to be paid and employees within athletic departments across the entire country are relying on television revenue to help support their way of living.

If the past two weeks have taught us anything, it’s that nothing is guaranteed in 2020. Specifically, as it relates to collegiate athletics.

Be safe, wear a mask, and hope for a Utah versus USC matchup at Rice Eccles Stadium on November 21st.
