Utah Volleyball Earns Highest Ranking In Program History

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Volleyball team reached their highest ranking in program history when they moved up to No. 7 in the nation after a sweep over ASU.

Utah volleyball beat the Sun Devils in two matches in Tempe over the weekend, 3-2 on Friday and 3-0 on Sunday, which led to their highest ranking in history.

The Pac-12 preseason favorites are off to a 6-0 start to the season. They have only lost three sets in those six matches. California snagged one set at home on Friday, January 29 and Arizona State won two sets on Friday, February 5. The Utes have swept three matches this year, holding Arizona without a set win in either match to open the season and swept the Golden Bears on Sunday, January 31.

Dani Drews is leading the charge for Utah as she is the leader in points (123.5), points per set (5.88), kills (111), kills per set (5.29), errors (34) and total attempts (240). On the defensive end, Drews leads the team in reception errors (6) and total attempts (94).

The most recent AVCA Volleyball Division I Coaches Top 25 poll was released on Monday afternoon. Utah is the highest ranked team in the Pac-12 and on the west coast. Here is the full rankings released on Monday:

Utah will next be in action on Friday, February 12 when they battle the USC Trojans. The match will begin at 3 p.m. MST on the Pac-12 Networks. Then they will have a rematch with USC on Sunday, February 14 at 12 p.m. MST on the Pac-12 Networks.
