SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Welcome to KSL Sports Game Night as the Utah Jazz host the Los Angeles Lakers in their final home game of the first half of the regular season.

The Jazz are coming off a 132-110 victory over the Charlotte Hornets in which they hit a franchise-record 28 threes, 15 of which came in the final 19 minutes of the game.

The Lakers meanwhile have lost four of their last five games, including three straight heading into their matchup with the Jazz.

Follow this page throughout the night for updates on pregame quotes, starting lineups, and thoughts and highlights throughout the game.

Pregame Quotes

Without Anthony Davis in the lineup, it’s difficult to get a full read on how the Jazz would fare against the Lakers if the two teams meet in the postseason based on this game alone.

However, Jazz coach Quin Snyder said the team still has value.

“I don’t see this as the type of situation where one way or the other you can play with a team like Lakers or you can’t beat a team like the Lakers,” Snyder said. “I think it’s more about how you play how you match up.”

Speaking of matchups, Lakers coach Frank Vogel discussed how his team would approach Rudy Gobert without Davis in the lineup.

“Marc (Gasol) should be able to bring him away from the basket, [Montrezl Harrell] has been very effective in games against Utah over the last couple of years in matchups with Rudy,” Vogel said. “So we’re confident in what we can do as long as we’re intelligent in how we’re attacking the basket.”

Starting Lineups

First Quarter

  • These are the two best defenses in the NBA, but early on it’s been a battle of good offenses.
  • Mike Conley off to a quick 8 points early in this game.

  • Evenly matched first quarter between the two teams so far.
  • Donovan Mitchell is struggling and opens the game 0-6.
  • At the end of the first quarter the Jazz lead the Lakers 24-23. Mike Conley leads all scorers with 8 points, while LeBron James has 6.

Second Quarter

  • Conley opens the game 4-4 from the floor and has 11 quick points.
  • Jazz open the quarter on a 17-7 run.

  • Jordan Clarkson isn’t letting the Lakers back into this game, he’s got 13 points on 5-8 shooting to open the game.
  • LeBron is keeping the Lakers in this, and they have gotten some timely three-point shooting to keep it around 10 points.

Third Quarter

  • Second verse, same as the first for the Jazz. They open the half on a 5-0 run and lead by 22.
  • Lakers have adjusted to taking away the threes that the Jazz were getting in the first half, and now the Jazz are living at the rim with easy lobs to Rudy Gobert.

  • Rudy has 16 points on 7-10 shooting.
  • Donovan Mitchell has 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.

  • There wasn’t going to be much to take from this game without Davis, but what the Jazz are doing will turn some heads, especially on national TV.
  • Six Jazz players in double figures.

Fourth Quarter

  • Might we have two triple-doubles in Utah? Donovan Mitchell has 13/9/8. Mike Conley has 14/8/8/ Who gets there first?
  • This game really hasn’t been close for the last two and a half quarters.

  • Mitchell is hunting the triple double but the Lakers keep fouling potentials scorers.
  • Snyder empties the bench and neither Mitchell nor Conley will have a triple double.
