Weber State HC Jay Hill Named Big Sky Coach Of The Year

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State head football coach Jay Hill was named Big Sky Coach of the Year for the first time in his career with the Wildcats.

Jay Hill is wrapping up his seventh season as the head coach of Weber State and led the Wildcats to an undefeated 5-0 record and an outright Big Sky Conference title, the first in program history.

It was Weber State’s fourth straight Big Sky Championship but the first time being outright champs. Hill and the Wildcats have made the FCS Playoffs in five straight seasons and was ranked second in the nation, the highest ranking in school history.

The former Utah special teams coordinator is the fifth coach in Weber State history to be named Big Sky Coach of the Year and the first since Ron McBride in 2008.

Since becoming the head coach of Weber State in 2013, Hill has a career record of 52-30 and is 39-14 in Big Sky Conference games. Over the last four years, Hill has led the Wildcats to a 37-10 overall record and 26-3 in Big Sky play. Weber State won their regular season finale over Idaho State at home, which was their 11th straight win at Stewart Stadium and is a school record. They have won 20 of their last 21 at home.

Hill won the Region 5 Coach of the Year award by the American Football Coaches Association for the second straight season. He is a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award as the National Coach of the Year.

The Wildcats will host Southern Illinois on Saturday, April 24 in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. MDT and will be streamed on ESPN3.
