Instant Replay: Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski Sets Guinness World Record With 600-Foot Catch

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Arizona Wildcats and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski set a Guinness World Record for highest altitude successful football catch.

Gronkowski broke the record at his alma mater’s spring practice on Friday, April 23.

New Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch welcome the NFL star onto the field and told the team Gronkowski would attempt a world record catch of 600 feet.

Gronkowski suited up in a helmet and football pads before going to the middle of the field.

Above Arizona Stadium hovered a helicopter.

With Gronkowski ready to go, a football was dropped from the helicopter.

Gronkowski was unsuccessful on the first and second footballs from the 600-foot drop.

On the tight end’s third attempt, he caught the ball in his arms for a new world record and proceeded to throw the ball to the turf with his signature “Gronk Spike.”

Following the catch, Arizona Stadium’s scoreboard flashed the phrase “WORLD RECORD BROKEN!!!”

“Every time you step on the field, you’ve got to raise the bar to another level, baby,” Gronkowski told the Arizona players after the catch. “And I just raised that bar to this level.”

A day after the record catch, Gronkowski helped coach in Arizona’s spring scrimmage.
