ESPN’s College Gameday Airs Special Tribute Story For Ty Jordan, Aaron Lowe

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – ESPN’s College Gameday aired a special story during their show to pay tribute to Utah’s Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe on Saturday.
The 6:31 video aired on their Saturday morning award winning show that featured best friends that tragically passed away in a nine month span.
The video started out showing the team busses arriving at Mesquite, Texas for the funeral services of Aaron Lowe on Monday, October 11.
“I didn’t want it to be true because he was my baby,” Lowe’s mother Donna Lowe-Sterns said.
Aaron Lowe and Ty Jordan were best friends, high school teammates and teammates at the University of Utah.

“It’s your worst nightmare, it was like ‘this can’t be happening again,” said Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham.
The tribute went on to explain how Jordan and Lowe became best friends and ended up playing at the same high school in Texas.
“When Aaron graduated and went off to Utah, that was his whole thing, ‘mama I am going to get Ty up here with me,” stated Lowe-Sterns. “And he did, he made sure Ty was going to Utah and play football.”
Lowe-Sterns recalled the day that Aaron got the phone call that Jordan had passed away on Christmas night in Denton, Texas.
“I just remember Aaron getting the phone call,” said Lowe-Sterns. “I just heard him scream and I run in there and he was just balling, he’s like ‘mama, Ty,’ I asked what happened to Ty? That’s when he told me that Ty had been shot.”
Utah running back Micah Bernard was at the Sugarhouse party where Lowe was shot and killed. He talked to College Gameday about that night.
“I was there,” said Bernard. “A friend came in and said something had happened and I went outside and it was bad, all bad.”
The video ended with Aaron Lowe’s casket arriving at the grave site. Lowe was buried next to his best friend Ty Jordan. Both were wearing their Utah football uniforms.
It’s what Aaron would want, to be with Ty,” mentioned Lowe-Sterns. “It gives me great comfort to know that he is not alone.”
