Dixie State Stumbles In Second Half, Falls To CSU Northridge

SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State men’s basketball team stumbled in the second half at lost to the CSU Northridge Matadors at the Empire Classic.
The Matadors the Trailblazers at the Matadome in Northridge, California on Saturday, November 20.
Dixie State lost to CSUN, 79-73.

The Blazers started the game strong and led by double-digits during the opening half of play.
However, Dixie State let CSU Northridge come back late in the first half and only owned a 38-36 lead at the halftime break.

The Trailblazers came out of the locker room with a solid run and regained a nine-point a few minutes into the second half.
Then like the first half, the Matadors stormed back to make it a game.
Midway through the final 20 minutes of action, CSU Northridge took the lead. The Blazers battled back to tie the game with five minutes left but were never able to regain the lead.
The Trailblazers finished the game shooting 41.7 percent overall and 29.4 percent from beyond the arc. Cameron Gooden led Dixie State with 20 points on 6-10 field goals.
With the loss, the Blazers fell to a 1-3 record this season.
Dixie State’s next game is against the No. 25 USC Trojans on Monday, November 22 at 9 p.m. (MDT) on the Pac-12 Network.
