Utah Basketball To Play In Fort Myers Tip-Off In 2022-23 Season

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men’s basketball team announced that they will participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off during the 2022-23 season.
Utah will play in the Fort Myers Tip-Off during Thanksgiving week at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of SouthWestern State College. Along with Utah, Georgia Tech, Marquette and Mississippi State will be a part of the Beach Division. Matchups, game times and TV network will be announced at a later date.
This season, Utah won the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Florida after defeating Boston College and Tulsa, while also taking down Bethune Cookman at home. The four programs in the Fort Myers Tip-Off Beach Division have combined for 90 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 33 by Marquette and 29 by Utah.
The Fort Myers Tip-Off will have another four-team Palms Division playing in the MTE (multi-team event) that will be announced in the coming months.

Utah Basketball History Against Three Fort Myers Tip-Off Teams
The Runnin’ Utes have never faced Georgia Tech in their history. They have played Marquette twice all-time, both times at neutral sites. The first meeting was in 1955 when No. 7 Utah picked up an 89-84 win over the Golden Eagles. Marquette won the most recent meeting in 1970 with an 83-63 victory.
Utah and Mississippi State have met twice before, once in Starkville and another at a neutral site. The Runnin’ Utes beat the Bulldogs both times, first in 2007, 66-54 and on the road in 2008 with a 71-58 win.
This season, Georgia Tech is 9-11 overall and 2-7 in ACC play, sitting in last place in the conference. Marquette is ranked No. 24 in the country with a 15-7 overall record and a 7-4 mark in the Big East, sitting in fourth place in the conference. Mississippi State is 13-7 overall and 4-3 in SEC play, sitting in fifth place in the conference.
