Dixie State Goes Ice Cold Offensively In Loss To SFA

SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State Trailblazers struggled shooting the ball on Saturday afternoon in their 81-52 loss to SFA on the road.
After getting outscored 35-26 in the first half, Dixie State struggled in the second half by scoring just 26 points and allowing Stephen F. Austin to drop 46 points.
It’s the second straight loss for Dixie State after entering this week with a three-game winning streak.

Dixie State Struggled Shooting In Loss To Stephen F. Austin
Two DSU players reached double figures, led by Dancel Leter with 13 points and six rebounds. Cameron Gooden chipped in 12 points and five boards. Hunter Schofield dealt with four trouble, finishing with three points, five rebounds and four fouls in 21 minutes on the floor.
Isiah Pope and Frank Staine added eight points apiece. The Trailblazers shot 27% (16-59) from the field, 13% (3-23) from the three-point line and 63% (17-27) at the free throw line. They made eight field goals in each half, going 8-for-28 in the first half and 8-of-31 in the second half. Along with the poor shooting, DSU had 25 turnovers with SFA scoring 32 points off of those turnovers.
Three Lumberjacks scored in double figures, led by David Kachelries and Jaylin Jackson-Posey with 17 points apiece. Calvin Solomon added 14 points. SFA shot 55% (30-54) from the field, 25% (5-20) from the three-point line and 80% (16-20) at the free throw line.
Dixie State dropped their record to 11-12 overall and 4-6 in WAC play. They will return home to New Mexico State on Thursday, February 10 at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
