Nathan Crumpton Finishes First Two Men’s Skeleton Runs In 20th Place

SALT LAKE CITY – Nathan Crumpton finished the first two runs in the Men’s Skeleton in 20th place at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
Nathan Crumpton had a minor setback in his first run of two Skeleton heats, finishing in 1:02.06. He bounced off the wall on one of the last turns of the heat, which slowed him down at the finish line. Crumpton finished the first heat in 22nd place in the standings. The leader was Christopher Grotheer of Germany with a time of 1:00.00.
On his second run, Crumpton improved his time with a 1:01.65 heat. That was good for 20th in the standings and +3.38 behind the leader, which was still Grotheer with a time of 1:00.33 in his second heat.
Crumpton competed in PyeongChang in 2018 but put Skeleton on hold and ran in the 100-meter dash in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. He is representing American Samoa in honor of his grandmother’s heritage. Crumpton is the only athlete in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games from American Samoa.
He currently resides in Park City, Utah after moving to the Beehive state years ago to train when he was on Team USA. Crumpton was born in Kenya before living in Zimbabwe, Australia.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics
Just a year after Japan’s summer Olympics, the Games are back for a winter show in Beijing, China. The unusually short gap between Games is due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is one of the largest cities in the world and 15 hours ahead of Mountain Time. There are 13 different venues in and around Beijing that will be used for the Winter Olympics.
