SALT LAKE CITY – In nine seasons with the Utah Jazz, Rudy Gobert left his mark with memorable moments both on and off the court and in the Salt Lake City community.
After reports have surfaced that Rudy Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves after nine seasons with the Utah Jazz, KSL SportsBeat highlighted some of the best moments from his time with the franchise.

Rudy Gobert Wins Three NBA Defensive Player Of The Year Awards
It didn’t take Gobert long before becoming one of the top defenders in the NBA and was an All-NBA selection. In his fifth season, Gobert took home his first NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, averaging 2.5 blocks per game in 2018. Then Gobert took his second award home the following season in 2019.
After winning the award in 2021, Gobert became tied for the second-most NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards in league history. As a part of the defensive dominance, Gobert was named to the NBA All-Defensive in the last six seasons.

Only eight players in NBA history have more All-Defensive team selections than Gobert.
Going To Three-Straight All-Star Games
In 2019, Gobert was snubbed of his first All-Star game appearance. During the media session following the announcement, Gobert began to cry. After that moment, Gobert went to three-straight All-Star games, with his debut coming in 2020. In his first All-Star appearance, Gobert had 21 points and 11 rebounds in Chicago.

Dunk King
One of the big reasons why Gobert has had a high field goal percentage was getting dunks and shots in the paint. During the 2018-19 season, Gobert became the first player in NBA history to record over 300 dunks in a single season when he had 306. He beat the previous record held by Dwight Howard with 269.
That record still stands today.
Work In The Community
While with the Jazz, Gobert started his own foundation “Rudy’s Kids,” which brought holiday joy to hundreds of underprivileged kids and their families each year. Gobert also helped create an emergency food pantry for a middle school in Salt Lake City. He also donated over $500,000 to Vivint employees and to multiple COVID-19 relief efforts.
