Weber State Handles Idaho State On Senior Day

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats picked up their eighth win of the year on Senior Day with a 45-7 victory over Idaho State on Saturday afternoon.

Weber State quarterback Bronson Barron completed 19 of his 31 pass attempts for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Dontae McMillan ran the ball 15 times for 139 yards and one TD. Kris Jackson and Damon Bankston also had rushing touchdowns.

The first score of the game came on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Barron to Ty MacPherson to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter. Kris Jackson’s two-yard TD run extended the Weber State lead to 14-0 with 14:50 to go in the second quarter.

Damon Bankston put Weber State up by three touchdowns with a 17-yard score on the ground with 6:26 left in the first half. Idaho State scored their lone touchdown with five seconds left in the first half as the Wildcats had a 21-7 lead at the break.

Coming out of the break, Kyle Thompson nailed a 41-yard field goal to make the score 24-7 in favor of the Wildcats. Later in the third quarter, Baron connected with Justin Malone for a three-yard touchdown to give Weber State a 31-7 lead with 4:44 left in the third quarter. The final score of the game came on a four-yard touchdown run by Dontae McMillan to put Weber State ahead 45-7 with 8:37 remaining in the game.

Idaho State struggled offensively with Sagan Gronauer completing 12 of his 21 pass attempts for 72 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Wildcats held the Bengals to 76 passing yards and 154 yards rushing. Desmond Williams and Raoul Johnson each recorded an interception, while Garrett Beck recovered a fumble.

Weber State improved their record to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in Big Sky play. They will wrap up the regular season on the road against Northern Arizona on Saturday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m. MT on ESPN+ and 103.1 FM “The Wave.”
