SALT LAKE CITY- The impossible was made possible Saturday night when all the cards fell into place for Utah football to head back to Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship. UCLA beat Cal, Oregon State beat Oregon, Utah took care of Colorado, and Washington wrapped things up with a win over Washington State.

Needless to say, the Utes are excited for the opportunity to defend their title against USC later this week- a team they have already beat once this season.

“All the cards have fallen into place,” Utah quarterback Cam Rising said after practice Monday. “Everything we needed to happen, happened and we’ve got to go see it through now. We’ve got to keep it going.”

A Recount Of Saturday Night For Utah Football

Utah heading back to Las Vegas seemed like the longest of long shots early Saturday but also didn’t feel completely outside the realm of probability to anyone familiar with the Pac-12 Conference. As the elements started falling into place, the excitement started to build for the Utes.

Needless to say, all eyes were on the Apple Cup, the latest game that needed to fall in Utah’s favor Saturday night. Once it became clear the Huskies were going to win, the celebrations started amongst the players. Utah football was heading back to the Pac-12 Championship against all odds.

“Oh, I was turnt,” Utah running back Ja’Quinden Jackson said. “I was lit. I was ready to go then. Cut the film right after the game, I was ready to go.”

For Stanford transfer Gabe Reid, playing in the Pac-12 Championship in his last year of eligibility with his younger brother, Karene Reid is a dream come true.

“It means the world,” Reid said. “It’s my last year and I couldn’t write a better story for me to end up at the Pac-12 Championship.”

Karene Reid might have been one of the last players to find out everything fell into place for his team, admitting he fell asleep during Washington’s game and woke up in a panic wondering how it ended.

“To be completely honest, I fell asleep,” Reid said. “I woke up at 3 am in a panic- sweaty, ‘Who won!?! Who won!?!’ I couldn’t believe it.
